He was sent to live in the mountains, spending years between the ages of 8 to 10 helping on their family’s sugar plantation—until the business collapsed. His mother briefly returned during his high school years but soon left again for the U.S., where she remains today after suffering a stroke. Drey, an only child, carried the weight of adulthood early. At 15, he became a father—a turning point that brought both responsibility and emotional struggle.

During college, while he had some financial support, the freedom without guidance led him into darker decisions. He later became an OFW in Thailand, shifting from job to job without lasting direction. Then, as if life hadn’t tested him enough, a hurricane hit—wiping out everything he had. Left with nothing, Drey had to start from scratch all over again.
